In
this presentation, the speaker will discuss Chinese language testing in
the
United States
.
First, the speaker will give a general overview of language
testing and outline the distinctions between proficiency and achievement
tests. This will be followed
by a discussion on the different Chinese language assessment formats
currently available. Next,
the speaker will talk about college-level placement tests, and the oral
proficient test (namely the ACTFL’s OPI), as well as standardized
tests (such as: SAT II, CPT, and HSK).
Finally, the presenter will review the relationship between
curriculum design in Chinese schools and the testing that is available
in the
United States
.
